Earth

Updated: Jul 12, 2023

1st January 2023: This beautiful deer came to me in a dream. It was quite different from the dreaming I was used to which I plan to explain in later rambles. So real

So exhilarating

So empowering

It left a mark, I couldn't get her out of my head so I did what I always do to help remove something playing in a loop in my mind; I draw it. I created a rough sketch of her in my notebook on the afternoon of the 7th January 2023 and I figured like the rest of my random scribblings maybe one day I'd bring her to life.

For days I thought about it, while driving the kids, washing dishes, folding clothes... I just pictured her, big doe eyes, the confidence, the grace. After a few days I decided to meditated on her and journal: this is what I wrote.

Tuesday 10th January 2023
The day is warm the sun is bright I feel the rays on my skin, I open my eyes to find her there. In all her beauty, in the distance I see her, the brown fur the flickering ears. As I approach her she seems calm and I don't fear her I feel safe, I feel her.
As I stand before her our souls connect and she fills me with green light, the Forrest grows around us, trees taller that any building, kissing the sky and shadowing us from the suns bright light.
Now that we are closer I touch her face and her forehead glows with a crown of silver light, fairy's fly around me I feel the mushrooms growing around my feet and earth pulling me in.
She sits and I lay my head into her fur closing my eyes and smelling the freshness of grass and stone. I fall back into a cusion of moss and the great oak tree twists her branches around my heart and heal my soul grounding me and entwining with her antlers we became one.
My healer, my earth."

And by January 12th she was being brought to life.

As usual I started with my base- really focusing on the earthier tones of the browns and greens and then started to map her out
